ILScorp introduces new online compliance training course for Québec damage insurance professionals

ILScorp’s Québec Compliance Course on Privacy Laws accredited with the Chambre de l’assurance de dommages for three Professional Development Units

Courtenay, B.C. – February 14, 2012 – ILScorp, a long-time provider of insurance and financial services education and training, is proud to introduce a new online training course for insurance professionals in Québec.

Accredited by the Chambre de l’assurance de dommages (ChAD), the course, “Québec Compliance Course on Privacy Laws” is available now through ILScorp’s eLearning centres at www.ilscorp.com.

ChAD oversees the training and ethics of claims adjusters, brokers and agents in damage insurance throughout Québec. As part of its mandatory continuing education requirements, professionals must obtain 20 Professional Development Units (PDUs) in every two-year period. The regulatory body also mandates that at least three of the 20 credits must be obtained in its new Compliance category.

ILScorp’s “Québec Compliance Course on Privacy Laws” provides information on the province’s privacy laws for the private sector and how the laws relate to the federal government’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA.) The course is accredited for three PDUs in the Compliance category.

“It’s imperative that insurance professionals understand the privacy laws and guidelines in their jurisdiction,” said Ken MacRae, President and CEO, ILScorp. “With the introduction of “Québec Compliance Course on Privacy Laws” course, we’ve made it easier than ever for those in the damage insurance industry to learn about the laws while also ensuring they obtain their mandatory PDUs.”

In addition to the new “Québec Compliance Course on Privacy Laws” course, ILScorp also offers more than 75 ChAD-accredited courses online, amounting to nearly 160 total PDUs. Québec brokers have unlimited access to all of the available PDUs for 12 months when they purchase a ChAD Annual Subscription for just $185 per year. Most courses are also available for individual purchase, starting at $85 each.

ILS Introduction to General Insurance program brings new option for Level 1 insurance licensing in British Columbia

Launch of ILS Introduction to General Insurance brings the classroom to the student with ILScorp’s Level 1 general insurance salesperson’s licensing program

COURTENAY, B.C. – January 25, 2012 – ILScorp, a long-time provider of insurance and financial services education and training, is proud to introduce the ILS Introduction to General Insurance program.
Recently accredited by the Insurance Council of British Columbia, this innovative program allows students to study for and obtain their Level 1 general insurance salesperson’s license from a single source.

“ILScorp has been educating insurance professionals through online training programs for more than a decade,” said Steve Hawrishok, founder of ILScorp and author the program. “The addition of the ILS Introduction to General Insurance program to the growing catalog of offerings really reinforces just how seriously ILScorp takes education, from the licensing to the continuing education stages.”

“We listened to our students and examined the current learning environment in Canada,” said Ken MacRae, ILScorp’s President and CEO. “We found that students had very limited options in obtaining their Level 1 insurance salesperson license. The ILS Introduction to General Insurance program gives newcomers to the insurance industry the opportunity to obtain their salesperson’s license from Canada’s leading insurance education and training provider.”

Building on the strong foundation of innovative online training ILScorp has honed in its twelve years online, the comprehensive ILS Introduction to General Insurance program is adaptable to all learning types. An easy-to-follow text book, online text or video instruction, study guide, electronic flash cards and practice exams allow students to review program material at their own pace so they are fully confident before writing the ILS Introduction to General Insurancefinal exam.

“One of the extra benefits of this program is how ‘green’ it is,” MacRae said. “Through the online studying and examination process, students are able to reduce their carbon footprint in the licensing process. The online delivery of the ILS Introduction to General Insurance program benefits students – and the environment.”

“Current insurance industry professionals have long been telling us how much they appreciate the quality of our training materials,” added MacRae. “Now, we’re pleased to be able to offer newcomers a great introduction to the industry with the ILS Introduction to General Insurance program.”
Pricing and delivery details will be available on the ILScorp website (www.ilscorp.com) on February 15, 2012.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New course suite from ILScorp and Dynamic Leadership Inc. helps maximize workplace resources and leadership

March 9, 2009 – Courtenay, BC A global economic crisis has limited hiring and training budgets for many companies. Almost 8.7 million baby boomers – 38.8 percent of Canada’s working-age population – are set to retire within the next five to 10 years. A new breed of employees, Generation Y or the Millennial Generation, is jumping head first into the workforce.

With so many changes and challenges occurring in the world, it can be difficult to understand and navigate through today’s workplace.

ILScorp and Dynamic Leadership Inc. (DLI) have created a series of online training courses that can help maximize efficiency and productivity in an ever-changing marketplace.

“Many business are still practicing talent mismanagement through “fire, ready, aim”, rather than “ready, aim, fire”,” said DLI’s Wayne Kehl. “Although you might get lucky and this approach may work, implementing a more logical and effective process for selecting top talent is the key to a company’s future success.”

The series of six streaming-video courses speak to the human and logical side of management and personal skills. This course series, available now online at www.ilscorp.com, includes the following courses:

  • The Ten Easy Commandments of Getting Along with People
  • 18 Steps to Dealing with Confrontation
  • Behavior Selling
  • The Secrets of Commercial Insurance
  • A Positive Passion Presentation
  • Job Security during a Recession and Beyond

“This course suite is a great addition to the ILScorp library,” said Ken MacRae, ILScorp Vice President and CEO. “Each course provides valuable insight into the dynamics of working with people, and how to build and use working relationships for the betterment of the bottom line.”

Also available at http://www.ilscorp.ca/DLI is the TriMetrix assessment. These assessments reveal how a person behaves, why they behave the way they do and what they are capable of doing. It’s an in-depth look at an individual, giving supervisors information that can aid in performance growth, team
effectiveness and successful employee selection and retention.

“Everyone brings their own skills, talents and competencies to a job role,” said MacRae. “By working through these assessments with employees, managers can make the most of their resources and grow their business with what they already have.”

The courses from DLI and ILScorp are available online now at www.ilscorp.com. A package of the six courses is available for $135, or each course can be purchased individually for $85.

ILScorp adds new video training for Life and Accident & Sickness agents

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ILScorp adds new video training for Life and Accident and Sickness agents

June 8, 2009 – Courtenay, BC Canadian Life and Accident and Sickness Insurance Agents now have even more choice in their continuing education (CE) options. ILScorp and Qube Consulting’s Ian Quigley have created three new video courses specifically for the Canadian Life and A&S industry.

“Ian Quigley created several great courses for ILScorp in the past,” says ILScorp Vice President and CEO Ken MacRae. “It was only natural that he would again lend his skills to create these new video courses.”

Each of the new courses Quigley has created reflect on current hot topics in the industry. “The Psychology of Employee Benefits” examines not only why employers offer non‐cash compensation, but how the societal trends towards benefits and other non‐cash compensation can impact a work environment.

In “How do they get that Price? Employee Benefit Pricing”, Quigley leads students through the negotiations in price setting for Employee Benefits. “Negotiations have changed,” says Quigley. “It’s less about moving the case to an alternative insurance company than it ever has been before. It’s more about being able to talk the language of the insurance company – how did they get that price and do you agree or disagree with that pricing?”

Innovative Group Benefit Plans” investigates recent trends in group benefit plans, examining what Canadian employers are doing to push the envelope in their offerings. Group Benefits started in the mid‐1800s – there’s no need to keep today’s benefits at 19th century levels.

“ILScorp now offers nine full video courses for Life and A&S agents,” said MacRae. “Not to mention our extensive library of text courses for this industry has over 135 courses included.”

The three new courses are worth a total of four continuing education hours. “The Psychology of Employee Benefits” and “Innovative Group Benefit Plans” are each accredited for one credit hour. “How do they get that Price? Employee Benefit Pricing” is accredited for two credit hours.

The three courses are available now on www.ilscorp.com and are included as part of the Annual Life and A&S Subscription. These courses are also available on a pay‐per‐use scale of $100 each.

ILScorp releases innovative Insurance Broker Ethics Courses

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ILScorp releases innovative Insurance Broker Ethics courses

Courtenay, BC – January 6, 2009 ILScorp founder Steve Hawrishok today announced that a series of courses dealing with Insurance Broker Ethics have been added to the ILScorp eLearning site at www.ilscorp.com

Mr. Hawrishok said he developed the three text and audio-based Ethics Courses after discussions with Canadian brokers and insurance regulators.
“The insurance industry has said it wanted a comprehensive course on broker ethics that will get brokers involved in determining what constitutes ethical and unethical behavior.

These courses do exactly that,” he said. “I wanted to do something that had not been done before and that was to present brokers taking these courses with a number of true-life scenarios and then have them identify whether or not the action taken by the broker in each scenario was ‘ethical/not unethical’ or ‘unethical’,” he said. “I also wanted brokers to know why the broker’s actions were considered to be ethical or unethical, and we do that in great detail for each of the over 90 scenarios that make up this series of ethics courses.”

The scenarios used in these courses were developed using existing Schedules and/or Bylaws of various Canadian regulators. “This has enabled us to ensure that we address the majority of regulations applicable to broker conduct in the majority, if not all, provinces,” said Mr. Hawrishok.
Ken MacRae, Vice President and CEO of ILScorp, said the Ethics Courses are a welcome addition to ILScorp’s already impressive catalogue of courses.

“We are always looking for high quality courses that add to the body of knowledge today’s insurance professionals need. These courses address a need that has been identified for quite some time, and does so in an innovative way,” he said.

“Our subscribers now have access to over two hundred insurance courses 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at our eLearning Centre at www.ilscorp.com”, he said.
