New Communications Course Launched by ILScorp – Canada’s Leader in Online Insurance Education

New Communications/ Speaking Course Launched by ILScorp – Canada’s Leader in Online Insurance Education.

COURTENAY, BC – Insurance industry leaders have told ILScorp that they wish new recruits to the industry were stronger at communication – better at articulating their message to customers, co-workers and employers.

To meet this growing need among professionals in all industries, ILScorp, Canada’s leader in online insurance education, has launched a new online course: “Secrets for Exceptional Speaking.” Using the trade-marked Hendrie Method, this online video course teaches an innovative approach to public speaking, presentations, and communication skills.
With this course, students will:
•discover techniques to apply to different communication and interpersonal situations
•know how to bring your words to life with appropriate emotion
•sound conversational and connected in several different styles
•be able to communicate any information and connect with any listener
•enhance your reputation, improve your self-confidence and advance your career!

In an interview with Marty Hughes of HUB International, Mr. Hughes told ILS what advice he gave to a group of new insurance industry professionals:
“Get comfortable talking in front of large groups, and learn to be articulate. If you can speak well, and you are comfortable in front of groups, you are more than halfway there. It is amazing to me the people out there who are not articulate enough to present their thoughts and express them to people in a coherent fashion. Not everybody is going to be a great speaker; I get that. And not everybody is comfortable speaking in front of a large group—I know I wasn’t. But you make yourself get good at it.”

After completing the Secrets of Exceptional Speaking course, which includes practice exercises and worksheets, students will be confident speaking to large and small audiences on a variety of topics.
Whether it’s speaking at your brother’s wedding, presenting to the board of directors, addressing a lecture hall, or your coworkers at a weekly meeting, the Secrets course will help you share information confidently and communicate effectively.

This course will give you techniques that you can apply to different communication and interpersonal situations. By the end of the course, you will be able to communicate any information, know how to bring your words to life with appropriate emotion, and sound conversational and connected in several different styles.

“As HR Manager, I have access to the finest training available in the country. The Hendrie Method is the ‘best of the best.’ It builds dramatic excellence into public speaking. Graduates exhibit self-confidence and style…and consistently give the “Secrets” Course superb evaluations. We highly recommend it for our executives, managers, retail salespeople, call center employees – anyone who must communicate with clients. The results will far exceed your expectations,” explains Michael Young, VP and Manager Human Resources Education & Development Bank One, Arizona.

This course is used by executives from Fortune 500 companies to train their themselves and their employees, and is now available to you, online, to work through at your convenience.

New online training courses from ILScorp educate Canadian workforce on workplace bullying

Online educator marks Anti-Bullying Day (Pink Shirt Day) by launching two new courses on workplace bullying: one for employers, one for employees

COURTENAY, B.C. – February 27, 2013 — Bullying doesn’t just happen on the playground. Social isolation, the spreading of rumours, excessive or unjustified criticism and other bullying behaviours happen often in the workplace. Research from Jacqueline Power, an assistant professor of management at the University of Windsor’s Odette School of Business found that 40 percent of Canadians have experienced one or more acts of workplace bullying at least once a week over the preceding six months. The provincial governments of Québec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and, most recently, British Columbia have cracked down on workplace bullying, amending legislation to protect workers.

Today, on the sixth annual Anti-Bullying Day (Pink Shirt Day), online education provider ILScorp is happy to announce the launch of two new online courses that tackle this issue:

Workplace Bullying Employee Version – Understanding Workplace Bullying & Tools for Safeguarding an Organization from Bullying Behaviour

The course is divided into four modules with a final exam:

  1. Identification of Workplace Bullying and the Law
  2. Preventing Workplace Bullying
  3. Developing a Workplace Bullying Prevention Program
  4. Conclusions
  5. Final Exam

“Employers and employees alike need to be aware of the workplace bullying laws and regulations in place in Canada. It’s a pervasive issue that has significant long-term effects on individuals and businesses,” says Ken MacRae, President and CEO, ILScorp. “That’s why today we’re launching new courses as a way to educate Canadians while helping them to ensure they are in compliance with the law.”

“Bullying is always unacceptable,” adds Laura Dennis, LL.B., Senior Vice President of Business Development, ILScorp. “But bullying in the workplace threatens livelihoods, productivity and even lives. This behaviour is unwelcome and unacceptable. ILScorp’s newest courses educate employees and employers on how to recognize the warning signs, avert disaster or deal with the bully.”

June 28, 2012 – New Insurance Act of BC Reforms Course

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New online training course from ILScorp prepares insurance professionals for July 1 changes to British Columbia’s Insurance Act

Online course, accredited for three Continuing Education (CE) credit hours, provides British Columbia’s insurance professionals with in-depth information about changes to the provincial Insurance Act

COURTENAY, B.C. – June 28, 2012 – British Columbia’s Insurance Act was passed in 1925 and in the more than eight decades since, insurance practices in the province have changed, but the Insurance Act has remained essentially the same. In 2003, the Supreme Court of Canada, in hearing KP Pacific Holdings Ltd. v. Guardian Insurance Co. of Canada, ruled that the existing Act was based on outmoded classes of insurance and was “incapable of coherently addressing the modern multi-peril policy.” As a result, significant amendments have been made to B.C.’s Insurance Act, effective July 1, 2012.

In order for insurance professionals to understand the amendments and how they affect the insurance business in British Columbia, ILScorp, a long-time provider of insurance and financial services education, has created a new online training course that examines the amendments to the Insurance Act.
The new course, entitled Insurance Act of B.C. Reforms, examines the history of the amendments, beginning with the Supreme Court of Canada’s hearing on KP Pacific Holdings Ltd. v. Guardian Insurance, explores each of the amendments and explains the impact of the amendments on insurance professionals in British Columbia.

The course examines the substantial changes to the Act, including:

  • The restructuring of the Act
  • Statutory conditions
  • Limitation periods
  • Relief from forfeiture
  • Unjust or unreasonable conditions
  • Dispute resolution
  • Restrictions on exclusions for fire
  • Recovery by innocent persons
  • Electronic communications
  • And more

The Insurance Act of BC Reforms course is available now on www.ilscorp.com. Current subscribers who have purchased either a General Insurance or Life and A&S subscription can access this course for free as part of their six month subscription. This course is accredited for three Continuing Education (CE) credit hours in British Columbia.
